The Maleficent Seven published

 It's Release Day

I could not be happier that The Maleficent Seven is out today! All that blood, sweat and Writer's Tears did not go to waste. It's been a wild ride, writing such a bombastic thrill-ride of a book with all these bigger than life characters who hate each other.

I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Loved it, all the way through. All of your books have felt like a breath of fresh air in the fantasy world. Are you working on anything new at the moment, or is it a secret. I've been checking here every week, I am so excited to read what you release next!

  2. Hi Jonathan , good to hear from you again :) Many thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you are enjoying the books.

I've almost finished the 1st draft of new standalone novel, and hopefully it will find a good home soon and I can start talking about it then.

  4. Great book, I absolutely loved it. Is there going to be a sequel? I thought it concluded pretty well however the epilogue seemed to hint at a sequel which could be more bombastic!

Hi Cameron (If I'm allowed to write on a first name basis, otherwise I said Mr. Johnston). I'm going in to military service in a few weeks. Just wondering if you are allowed to drop any hints regarding the new book. I have a craving for more of your books. I've had to re read the other ones while I not so patiently wait for another one of your books. Not looking to rush you, just wondering.

    Best regards, Jonathan

    1. Of course you are! It's a standalone bronze age fantasy taking liberal inspiration from various places and history of Scotland. I'm hopeful it will be out sometime late next year.

  6. Hi Cameron, I too really enjoyed your books. I am really hopeful that you will write a sequel to the maleficent seven. It was such a well done book imho. Congrats on your ability to translate your talent into paper.

  8. Incredible story, amazing characters. Hard not to imagine the actors who might play these characters in a film or (preferably a long) series. I won't list my ideas for actors so others can choose their own without influence, or the inevitable "you're nuts" responses I may receive. Sequel book or spinoffs? Yes, please! Clearly the characters have more of a story to be told, the Seven themselves as well as the townsfolk. Thank you for a book that will stay with me long after I finished reading it.

    1. I'm so glad you loved the book! Well, my dream casting would be this:

      Black Herran: Shohreh Aghdashloo
      Tiarnach: Kristofer Hivju
      Maeven: Eva Green
      Lorimer Felle: Idris Elba
      Jerak Hyden: Gustaf Skarsgård
      Amogg Hadakk: Gwendoline Christie
      Verena Awildan: Helen Mirren

    2. I had to look up a couple of the names, but I totally see it. Do you see it as a film, film series (one book: two or three films, like Hobbit or H. Potter book 7), or tv (Netflix/HBO/Prime, etc)? I think a series of at least 8-10 hour-long episodes would be necessary to do it justice. Otherwise too much would be lost in a shorter one or two film format. Then get working on the sequel for season two!

    3. Either one film with a fair bit stripped out, or a limited series for more depth and shenanigans :) Either would be glorious.
